Manchester United progressed the 4th Round of the FA Cup after beating West Ham Untied 1-0 in a replay of the 3rd round tie.
United rested several key players with a tough visit to Spurs at the weekend and took the opportunity to welcome back a few players from recent injuries into the first team with Anderson, Nani and Wayne Rooney all starting.
The clean sheet would be a real boost for the Reds, with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have brilliant games at centre back. Wayne Rooney marked his return with the only goal and Ryan Giggs turned back the clocks to be the stand out player from both teams throughout.
My top 5 GIFs from the game were:
1. Short corner, Antonio Valencia pass, Nani shot
United play a short corner with a few quick one touch passes including a wodnderful cushioned volley pass from Antonio Valencia in the path of Nani. His low drive is blocked on the line by some good West Ham defending.
2. Javier Hernandez ‘spin dummy’
Brilliant play by Javier Hernandez and he spins and allows the ball to run past him into Wayne Rooney who’s first time return flick is inches away from putting Hernandez in on goal. Great play.
3. Alexander Buttner pirouette skill
With a ball running lose in dangerous territory Buttner gave us the wonderful moment of skill as he pulls out a Zidane-esque spin move to keep control on the ball and calmly pass it back to keep possession.
4. Ryan Giggs takes on West Ham
Ryan Giggs of old as he runs, dinks and weaves past a few West Ham players before crossing and winning United a penalty via a West Ham handball.
5. Buttner skill pass, Ryan Giggs half volley pass
The move starts with Buttner who flicks the ball up and volleys it over his head to Wayne Rooney who heads it down to Ryan Giggs. Displaying all the confidence of the game he was having, Giggs plays a stunning first time pass on the half volley into the (offside) run of Javier Hernandez. Class.
