PL 11/03/12 Manchester United v West Bromich Albion

United went into the game 2 points behind Man City and came out 1 point ahead thanks to 3 points v WBA and City losing to Swansea.
United won 2-0 and played some beautiful football throughout the game. Here is a little selection.

1. Rooney “Megs”

Rooney was involved in plenty of Uniteds best play and his goals have been the difference of late. Here he gives the WBA defender a cheeky little nutmeg.

2. Welbeck back-heel

Danny Welbeck was brilliant during the game providing a real threat from either out wide or centrally. His directness to attack defenders causes real problems as well as his classy touch and skill. This is a beautiful little backheel return to Ashley Youngs’ 1-2.

3. Evras’ surging run

Patrice Evra is always a good attacking threat and had a good game v West Brom. Here he surges forward from the edge of our own box. The little shimmy to beat his man was class and his run eventually allows Young to pick out Rooney at the back post for a difficult chance.

4. Rio pass, Young Skill

Ashley Young was superb all game, threatening almost every time he got the ball in the attacking third. This piece of control and skill came from a lovely pass from Rio Ferdinand

5. Beautiful passing move

Some of the passing from United was a joy to watch and this move was one of the best. Rooney starts it with a lovely pass out wide which eventually makes it way back across the box and ends with Carrick giving a beautiful little pass into Evras run. Evra finds Welbeck whos shot gets blocked.
I love how you can see the runs made my Carrick and Evra are almost in unison which allows the move to work.
